If you are brand new to AET or haven’t gotten much further than the log-in page, attend this workshop to learn basic functions and features. Practice entering students and setting up a new record book.

3. Developing Your Local Context with FFA Alumni- Mark Pratt, Idaho FFA Alumni Association
This workshop will educate FFA advisors on best practices in utilizing local community people as resources for creating a direction for your ag program. Alumni are an oft-underutilized local resource and Mark Pratt will give FFA advisors the tools they need to reach out to these community members.

4. “Examination” of the Veterinary Science CDE- Steve Wilder, Meridian
The job outlook for veterinary professionals is expected to be much higher than average in the coming decade. One way to interest and prepare your students for these careers is by coaching a Veterinary Science CDE team. The Meridian FFA team won the state CDE in 2014 and 2015. This workshop will provide an overview and answers to your questions about the Vet Science CDE.

1. Ag Teacher Technology for the Technologically Challenged- Jaysa Fillmore, Cassia
Do you feel like you are hearing a foreign language when it comes to technology? Would you like to learn how to send a message on the Idaho Ag Ed ListServe, share a Google Doc, or search for a new lesson idea on Communities of Practice? Come to this beginner level workshop and have your technology-related questions ready for Jaysa.

2. Getting the most from FFA.org and MyFFA- Ben Meyer, National FFA
Come to this workshop to learn about all the resources offered on FFA.org and MyFFA on both the student and advisor portals. (computer lab)

One of the missions of the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho is to assist its members in planning a secure retirement by providing high-quality, friendly service, retirement education and information. This workshop will be a combination workshop that provides information for early career through veteran teachers.

4. Curbing Ag Teacher Burnout- Nicole Lebsack, Jerome
It's been said that if an ag teacher can survive in the profession until after year seven, they'll have cleared the biggest obstacle to staying in the profession. Wouldn't it be great if teachers were doing more than just surviving? Nicole Lebsack was a 2015 participant in the NAAE XLR8 program aimed helping ag teachers achieve work-life balance and avoid ag teacher burnout. Nicole will share some of the strategies she learned in the program and well as answer questions about XLR8 and other NAAE professional development programs.

1. FFA Officer Training and Leadership Retreats- Ben Meyer, National FFA
Ben Meyer, National FFA Local Program Success Specialist, will highlight resources from the National FFA to help advisors plan and implement FFA Officer Training and Leadership Retreats. Come away with from this workshop with training materials and example schedules for retreats.

2.Intro to IQPS- Marc Beitia, American Falls
Mr. Beitia will give a detailed overview of the Idaho Quality Program Standards incentive grant process. Teachers who have not applied for IQPS are encouraged to attend this workshop to get some advice on how to start the process and what documentation is needed for the grant.

Ag Expos are held each year across the state and expose thousands of children to the agricultural industry. Attend this workshop and be prepared to share successes, failure, and questions about hosting an Ag Expo. Mr. Waitley will share resources, ideas, and guidelines to help you in your planning.

Note- these Exchange of Ideas sessions will start the process of curriculum guide revision that will take place at CTE Summer Conference in August. Teachers will choose the area that they are the most experienced in or the most interested in gaining new knowledge. A facilitator will record ideas, resources, questions, comments, and concerns for each area. Bring printed or electronic copies of your resources so you can share with the group.

Do you have ideas for updates to the Ag Welding curriculum? Come prepared to share your projects, rubrics, and lesson plans. We’ll be looking at post-secondary program credit correlations and how they fit into your ag welding program.

2. Intro to Ag Exchange of Ideas
Introduction to Agricultural Education and Introduction to Agricultural Industry are two of the most popular courses taught in Idaho, yet curriculum guides have not been developed on a state level. Come prepared to share your ideas, assignments, and lesson plans.

3. Animal Science Exchange of Ideas
The Idaho Animal Science curriculum guide has not been updated in a few decades. Come prepared to share your ideas for updating this curriculum in a way that will appeal to today’s learners. We’ll be discussing courses all the way from Introduction to Livestock Industry to the 500 level Zoology courses.

4. Plant Science Exchange of Ideas
Do you have great resources and ideas for your Horticulture or Botany classes? Although the science of botany hasn't changed since the last curriculum guide was published, the way our students learn has! Come prepared to share your lessons, activities, and projects for plant science.

5. Plant Science Dual Credit- Dr. Bob Tripepi, University of Idaho
If you're interested in teaching Dual Credit Plant Science with Dr. Bob Tripepi from the University of Idaho, come learn about the course structure and requirements. See and ask questions about the course syllabus, lecture outlines, and required labs.

1. Grant Writing 101- Sue Poland, Homedale
Learn how to write a variety of grants aimed at agricultural education and FFA. See samples of successful grants and get tips on how to manage the grants once you receive them.

2. Saddle Up for Equine Curriculum Resources- Liz Russell, Meridian
Miss Russell teaches Introductory and Advanced Equine Science classes in the Meridian ag program. She will share ideas for units in both courses as well as videos, guest speakers, and other equine science resources.

3. Plasma Table Tips and Tricks- Karl Dahle, North Fremont
Are you thinking about getting a plasma table and need some advice? Or, do you have one but don’t know how to utilize it? Come to this workshop to learn from ag teachers that are experienced with using various brands of plasma tables.

4. Teaching Legal Land Descriptions- Idaho Ideas Unlimited 2015- Josette Nebeker, HIghland-Craigmont
Participate in a hands-on workshop where you'll explore a game that helps build student knowledge and skill in identifying land using legal land descriptions and averages. The game also helps with quick visual reasoning. Josette will share her lesson plan and worksheets for her winning Idea.

5. Labs in the Plant Science Dual Credit Course- Dr. Bob Tripepi, University of Idaho
If you are interested in teaching the UI Plant Science Dual Credit Course, you'll be guiding your students through several hands-on labs. Come to this workshop to go through the Light Intensity lab which uses a spectrometer to measure wavelengths of light used to grow plants. Also, learn how to make tissue culture media and and measure pH of soil using a pH meter.

This workshop is for teachers that did NOT attend Mr. Woodland’s electrical wiring workshop last year.  Teachers will assemble an electrical wiring board that can be taken home and used in the classroom. Teachers are encouraged to attend Session II directly following this workshop to learn how to use and teach with the board. Advance sign up required to ensure material availability.

This workshop is for teachers who have attended Mr. Woodland’s Level 1 workshop at 1:00 pm or last year at CSI and have created an electrical wiring board. Teachers need to bring their board to this workshop to learn how to use and teach with the board.

2. Meat Processing Workshop- Troy Bird, Oakley at BYU-I Meat Lab
Are you looking for a way to integrate meat processing labs and lessons into your animal science or food science courses? Attend this workshop with Mr. Bird to learn how to break down a carcass and identify the value added cuts. You will process a whole chicken carcass and observe Mr. Bird break down a larger animal as well. ($20 additional fee to attend this workshop)

3. Greenhouse Management- Chance Munns, CSI
Chance Munns, Horticulture Instructor at the College of Southern Idaho, will present an overview of greenhouse structures, environmental control, fertigation, planting, schedules, and greenhouse layout and planning. He will also discuss consumable purchasing including quantity calculations and material choices. There will be something for everyone at the workshop whether you're a greenhouse newbie or have been running a plant sale for years.

This half day workshop is your chance to get comfortable with AET as you input data and work through different scenarios that your students will encounter. Bring your computer and student SAE records, if possible, to work through real situations as you learn from AET experts.

1. Natural resources all-day Yellowstone tour, Beth Taylor, National Park Service
Spend the day in Yellowstone National Park learning about natural resources of the west. The Park Rangers will spend the morning facilitating structured lessons and leading you in collecting data as a citizen scientist and then play tourist during the afternoon as you drive the Yellowstone loop to see all the sites. (Park admission included in Inservice Registration. Lunch is on your own in the Park)

2. Curriculum Development Work- Josette Nebeker, Curriculum Committee Chairman
Begin the work of sorting through new ideas suggested at the Exchange of Ideas workshops in order to improve the Idaho Ag Ed Curriculum Guides.
